Effort: Developing Talent & Student Success

During Welcome Week at Convocation, Dr. Rishi Sriram, associate professor of higher education and student affairs in Baylor’s School of Education, will deliver the keynote. Dr. Sriram’s research interests include: 

• The development of talent. 

• College student success. 

Through his message, students will learn the five key areas that lead to talent development and consider how they can use their experience at Baylor to learn and grow.  

Talent is a concept our society is obsessed with, but rarely do we reflect together on what talent is or where it comes from. To better understand what leads to talent development, students are encouraged to explore the five M’s: mindset, myelin, mastery, motivation, and mentorship. NSE instructors are encouraged throughout the semester to engage students in dialogue and reflection about each of these categories and what students can do to use each category to help them pursue their goals and dreams.
